orchard rescue, who's coming?

As I lay still not as easy shelved the project orchard, but the report is more confusing, I have decided to set up next to the original article a new post for the course for current information. Of course I hope also that we may find a solution together.

However, I must tell you that I am absolutely the wrong contact person for this. The orchard is in Lower Saxony, and thus simply not in the immediate environment of the students. We think it therefore simply not clear enough or not tangible enough for what you donate the money. Moreover, it is a sum that can not simply can thus collect in the school - especially if the students do not even have very direct relevance to the orchard. This we already know from experience- 33,000 euros are unrealistic.

Schlossorsch wife of the Nature Protection Foundation of the district of Cuxhaven has thrown hard to the wheel last week and again pulled out all the stops.

thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately we can not help you here. There are to my knowledge in the north of Germany, a regulation, the old trees on land before the cases but will not protect in Bavaria. Ultimately this is determined by the owner. I would recommend you to some new fruit trees to plant another plot, or perhaps you could take a few fruit trees elderly owners.

I think, here are a few misconceptions exist: Oberndorf / Oste is near Cuxhaven and thus Niedersachsen.

me your beautiful apple trees do not go out of my head. I think it's such a pity that they should probably be sawed off little by little. So I will try you in more detail the reasons that move me to this mission, again to explain:

areas with old fruit trees, known orchards, many animals and plants serve as habitat, such as bees, dragonflies, butterflies, birds, medicinal herbs, salamanders and here in Lower Saxony and the rare owl.

Since the 60s are about 70% of such areas have disappeared because they used purely as grassland or arable land and associated mostly farmed intensively are, say, by the machinery and the increased use of fertilizer, weed and pest destruction are many wild plants and animals have been displaced.

These areas have, however, many important functions in the circuit nature: trees and hedges and by the higher growth under the trees they keep out the wind and strong sunlight and protect the soil from drying out, removal and compaction, which in turn leads to flooding, siltation and other soil erosion.
